In terms of design, an area rug can make the floor feel more expressive and beautiful. But on the health side, area rugs can actually be a source of illness for people in home. Dust and dirt in area rug can be a source of disease. Rugs, especially the woolly could become a den of dirt and dust.

Currently area rugs use synthetic fibers and other materials containing volatile organic compounds (VOC) which evaporate easily in air. These substances can harm human respiratory health. It can make your child more susceptible to allergies or asthma.

You can choose are rug made from natural fibers such as wool, cotton, and so forth. Besides being more environmentally friendly material that is more healthy because it is free of chemicals. You can also choose area rug that has a label environmentally friendly and safe for health.

When you purchase a new area rug, please do not directly install it in your room. Aerate your area rug first on the outside, it will reduce VOC content.
Clean your area rugs with a vacuum cleaner every day and don’t forget to wash your area rugs at least once a month. Now, you can enjoy your healthy rugs.
